More than one way to look at things

We're supposed to think that the D&D geek is lucky to get the supermodel. Actually, it's the supermodel who's lucky to get the D&D geek. To believe otherwise is insulting to the D&D geek. The two of them ending up together isn't a male fantasy, it's my fantasy.

I think we're all pretty lucky to find someone we really care for and cares for us that we can love, respect and and not want to kill. I've always thought that was an absurd commercial. You know I love geeks. Even if I'm not a D&D fan myself.

Y'all know why geek love rules don't you? It's because we worship you and that's exactly what you want.

Revenge of the Nerds

"All jocks ever think about is sports. All nreds ever think about is sex."
I just can't find me a decent single nerd, who isn't boring. I've plenty of boring nerds and married nerds, and that just doesn't help me. Oh well, maybe I need to go to a HP book reading or something.

Re: Revenge of the Nerds

No, they're just all married or boring.
"Revenge of the Nerds" great movie. And that scene is always funny to me. And as some of my fellow LJers have always told me, when nerds get it wrong...control alt delete...reboot.

Given the classes I'm taking right now, I'm not really comfortable with bringing homicidal desires or lack thereof into a discussion about what constitutes a good relationship. I think just "not" wanting to kill someone is a pretty low bar. I guess I'm just not feeling the humor in that statement.

What about the commercial did you find absurd?

I was thrilled to actually see a D&D book on national television and to see a woman enjoying getting a gaming book as a present. The didn't make the smart guy look like a loser and they didn't make the supermodel look dumb.

It was a year ago and I didn't hear any fuss about it. GE still has the clip up on their site.

I think I found the commercial absurd, because I saw it from the pov of the geek being the lucky one in its potrayal. But it wasn't just that commercial it was their ad campaign as a whole. They had a few commercials and print ads that made it seem as beautiful women are stupid and they need that smart dorky man to help them out and teach them the value of things and such.

As you know me I don't condone the harming of a loved one, I was just kidding. However a lot of love is letting go of things that annoy you or learning to live with them more tolerantly. Or trying to not do these annoying things as much or at all. You make sacrifices big or small, the trick is finding someone you're willing to make them for.
